This past winter was very severe and there was an incredible amount of snow and cold weather.  People were left shelterless in the Northern Herat region and thousands died from the extreme conditions.  VWO organized a program to help and we donated $1,000.00 which was quite a large sum (according to them), for it bought food and  blankets for many.  VWO received great recognition for their humanitarian support and we were able to do something that helped others this past cold winter.
