When we built the small cottage at Lookout Cove on the cliffs of Little Bay, Jamaica, I envisioned sitting in the front room facing the Caribbean Sea at a desk with the window wide open.  Here I would sit and write about my thoughts expressed through the experiences of life.

Today some 15 years later, I rearranged the furniture of the bedroom, brought in the small dining room table to the perfect spot, placed on it a lamp, some flowers, a glass and an ashtray, paper and a pen, and sat myself down to write.

That vision 15 years ago never left me as I would think of it and say “one day I will sit there and write.”  But I guess the stories to complete the vision were not ready, so I had to remember, believe and be patient with the vision, just don’t lose the thought!  “We regret losing a purse full of money, but a good thought which has come to us, which we’ve heard or read, a thought which we should have remembered and applied to our life, which could have improved the world – we lose this thought and promptly forget about it, and we do not regret it, though it is more precious than millions.”  This wisdom passed on by Leo Tolstoy encourages me to honor our thoughts each day.

So today I am sitting, while it rains after much sunshine earlier.  This is good because rain is my most favorite weather.  It calms and nurtures, while everyone must sit under cover, still with themselves and be inspired to think or maybe even write about their life stories.
